Why might I wish to delete a Facebook group?

The factor I desired to do this is that I had a group based around a basic election that there was no point staying up to date with now. There are great deals of reasons that you might wish to erase a group, though-- it may have got out of hand, you may not have time to run it, it might be time-dependent and out of date, like my one was.

If it refers not having adequate time, consider making another person the Admin for the group-- you can see ways to do that in the future in this post, also.

Note, you do need to be the owner or administrator of the group to delete it.

How do I erase a Facebook group?

To delete a Facebook group, you have to remove all the members, then yourself. This makes the group disappear.

In your group, locate its Members location:

Click on the Members link and here you are with your list of members:.

For each member, click on the cog under the member's name and click Eliminate from Group. Keep in mind that this is where you can make them an Admin rather.

Facebook will ask you to confirm.

Do this for each member of the group.

Lastly, remove yourself from the group in the exact same method. You will get this verification message:.

This is the same mistake message whether you're just leaving the group or you're the last to leave-- simply choose Leave Group.

The group should now disappear. If it does not, your best option is to contact Facebook. Click on the arrow marked here:.

and select Report an Issue from the dropdown.
