How Cancel
Cancel My Facebook
I can absolutely sympathize with you. It's the only website I understand where I have to go through the personal privacy settings and make certain things haven't "developed" to leave my information, connections and data more exposed to either search engine spiders or the public than I want. Actually, it's quite exceptionally lame on their part in a society where people complain all the time about loss of privacy in the digital world.
That's another subject, however, I suppose.:-.
If you make sure that you do wish to erase your Facebook account then here's how you do that.
Are you sure that's exactly what you desire to do, however, rather than simply going into the privacy settings and reducing your direct exposure?
Okay, all right. Here are the steps ...
Go to "Account Settings":.
As soon as your there, scroll down and at the bottom you'll find:.
Click on the "shut down" link on the right and you'll see an exhaustive list of reasons that you may wish to leave. They're collecting data, certainly:.
Seems like your issue has to do with privacy, so if you select "I have a privacy issue" you'll find a little editorial commentary from the Facebook team:.
A bit lower down you can also specify that individuals sending you good friend welcomes (etc) will or won't trouble you:.
Again, I 'd state you should believe carefully prior to you check this alternative, however if you truly wish to never ever have Facebook darken your e-mail doorstep once again, this is ways to do it.
In any case, click on "Deactivate My Account" if you make sure that's exactly what you wish to do. Now it's time to go through the gauntlet, beginning with your password once again (simply in case somebody sees you visited and chooses it 'd be a terrific prank to erase your account):.
Remembered your password? Great. Now show you're not a robot:.
This CAPTCHA requires the words "Society" "darneder" (whatever that suggests). Enter those properly and click "Send".
Success! The account is officially shut down, removed, deleted and ... um, just a sec. As you can see from the text above, Facebook doesn't appear to erase your info, just shut off the account. I'm guessing that's not what you want, however it's the very best you can do.
By the method, a few minutes later on you'll get an e-mail from Facebook about your deactivated Facebook account:.
So now you understand. That's the best you can do, and it does effectively shut down your Facebook account and avoid anyone else from using your email address in the future.
