Cancel Facebook

Cancel Facebook - I'm ill of the never-ending personal privacy changes at Facebook, annoyed that I have in good faith got in a lot of info about myself and my social circles, just to have them continuously tweak and fiddle things so that they can get more exposure and make more cash, all while compromising my personal privacy. Exactly what's up with that, Zuckerberg?? I'm done. How can I cancel, erase, eliminate, axe, eliminate my account?

I can completely have compassion with you. It's the only website I understand where I need to go through the privacy settings and make sure things haven't "developed" to leave my information, connections and information more exposed to either online search engine spiders or the general public than I want. Actually, it's pretty incredibly lame on their part in a society where people complain all the time about loss of privacy in the digital world.
That's another subject, nevertheless, I suppose.:-.

If you are sure that you do wish to delete your Facebook account then here's how you do that.

Are you sure that's exactly what you want to do, however, instead of just entering into the privacy settings and lessening your direct exposure?

Okay, okay. Here are the steps ...
Go to "Account Settings":.

When your there, scroll down and at the bottom you'll find:.

Click the "shut down" link on the right and you'll see an extensive list of reasons that you might wish to leave. They're collecting information, certainly:.

Sounds like your concern has to do with privacy, so if you choose "I have a privacy concern" you'll find a little editorial commentary from the Facebook group:.

A bit lower down you can also define that individuals sending you friend invites (etc) will or won't bother you:.

Again, I 'd say you should believe thoroughly before you inspect this alternative, but if you truly want to never have Facebook darken your e-mail doorstep once again, this is how to do it.

In either case, click on "Deactivate My Account" if you make certain that's exactly what you want to do. Now it's time to go through the onslaught, starting with your password again (just in case someone sees you visited and chooses it 'd be a fantastic practical joke to erase your account):.

Remembered your password? Great. Now show you're not a robot:.

This CAPTCHA needs the words "Society" "darneder" (whatever that suggests). Enter those properly and click "Send".

Success! The account is formally closed down, gotten rid of, erased and ... um, simply a sec. As you can see from the text above, Facebook does not seem to erase your information, just shut off the account. I'm thinking that's not what you desire, however it's the finest you can do.

By the method, a few minutes later on you'll get an e-mail from Facebook about your shut down Facebook account:.

So now you understand. That's the best you can do, and it does effectively shut down your Facebook account and avoid anyone else from using your email address in the future.
